Building a Career Around People, Not Transactions

After 15 years in real estate and 100s of homes sold, I’ve learned that the most rewarding part of this business has very little to do with the transaction itself.
It’s the people.
It’s the relationships built along the way, the families I’ve had the privilege of helping, and the opportunity to be part of some of the biggest moments in people’s lives.
15 Years of Helping People Make Their Next Move
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help people through so many different chapters of life.
For some, it’s been helping them purchase their very first home and watching the excitement of getting the keys.
For others, it’s finding a home with more space as their family grows, helping them move into a neighbourhood where they can put down roots, or finding the right home after a major life change.
I’ve also helped parents downsize after decades in the same home, often helping families navigate an emotional transition while figuring out what comes next.
Every move is different. Every family has a different story. And that’s what has kept this career so meaningful to me after 15 years.
Real Estate Is About More Than Buying and Selling Homes
I’ve always believed that being a local real estate agent means being more than someone who helps people buy and sell houses.
It means being part of the community.
I’ve lived and worked in the community for years, and I genuinely love seeing the neighbourhood grow and change. I’ve built relationships with people who started as clients and have become friends, neighbours and lifelong connections.
That’s why giving back and creating opportunities for people to connect has become such an important part of my business.
Bringing the Community Together
Throughout the year, I’ve made it a priority to create events that bring neighbours and families together.
From our annual Free Ice Cream Day to Family Skate Day and other community initiatives, these events have become some of my favourite parts of what I do.
There’s something special about seeing familiar faces year after year. Meeting new neighbours. Watching kids who came to an event years ago grow up. Seeing families reconnect and people simply enjoying time together.
These moments remind me why community matters.
A neighbourhood isn’t just made up of houses, streets and property values.
It’s made up of people.
Giving Back to SickKids
Giving back is also something I believe should be part of doing business in the community.
Through the Children’s Miracle Network, I make a direct donation to SickKids with every home I sell.
For me, it’s a simple way to make every transaction about something bigger. Each home sold gives me another opportunity to support children and families who need it.
I’m proud that my business can have an impact beyond the real estate transaction itself.
The Homes Change. The Relationships Stay.
After 15 years, I’ve seen plenty of changes in real estate.
The market changes. Neighbourhoods change. Buyers’ priorities change. Homes change hands.
But one thing that has stayed consistent is the importance of relationships.
The people I’ve met and the families I’ve helped are what make this career so rewarding.
Because when you’re trusted to help someone buy their first home, sell the home where they raised their family, move closer to loved ones, or find the next place to call home, you’re being invited into an important chapter of their life.
That’s something I never take for granted.
Kinda Chic to Build a Career Around People, Not Transactions
After 15 years, 100s of homes and countless conversations, I’m still incredibly grateful to do what I do.
Real estate has given me a career, but more importantly, it has given me the opportunity to build relationships, contribute to my community and be there for people through some of life’s biggest milestones.
Because a community isn’t just the houses on the street.
It’s the people who live in them.
And for me, that will always be what real estate is really about.
If you’re thinking about buying your first home, upsizing, downsizing, selling, or simply want an honest opinion about the Toronto or North York real estate market, I’m always happy to have a conversation.
No pressure. No sales pitch. Just 15 years of experience, local knowledge and someone who genuinely cares about helping you make the right move.
