Thinking of Selling? Start with Spring Cleaning

If you’re even thinking about selling your home this spring, the best place to start is simple - spring cleaning.
But it’s not just about tidying up. Preparing your home properly can directly impact how it shows, how quickly it sells, and even the price you get.
Here are the top three things I always tell my clients to focus on:
1. Declutter
This is always number one.
Buyers don’t want to see your stuff - they want to see your space. The more items you have around, the smaller and more crowded your home feels.
Start removing anything you don’t need. Clear off countertops, organize closets, and pack away personal items. Think of it as pre-packing for your move.
2. Stage and Prepare
A well-staged home always shows better than one that isn’t.
And a furnished, staged home will almost always outperform an empty one. It helps buyers understand how the space works and allows them to emotionally connect with the home.
This also includes preparation:
  • Touching up paint
  • Fixing small nicks and scratches
  • Repairing minor wear and tear
These small improvements go a long way in making your home feel well-maintained and move-in ready.
3. Leave During Showings
This is the one many sellers struggle with, but it’s critical.
Buyers don’t want the homeowner present when they’re viewing the property. They want to explore freely, take their time, and picture themselves living there.
If you’re home, it can make the experience uncomfortable and rushed.
The best thing you can do is step out and let your home speak for itself.

If you’re preparing to sell and want help putting a plan together, I’d be happy to guide you through it step by step.
